My Name is Carmen Weld. I am a born and raised North Vancouverite and now proud Kelowna resident.
I like to say I live and breathe news, constantly attached to my social media and email feed. I am immersed and in touch with constant "stories" happening around me, and the current events of our time.
I graduated from BCIT's Broadcast Journalism program in April 2012 and currently work as a multimedia reporter for Castanet News - The Okanagan's homepage.
Before joining Castanet, I worked at 103.9 Juice FM, as well as enjoying a year long stint on Vancouver Island's airwaves with the teams at 89.7 Juice FM in Duncan and 99.7 2Day FM in Campbell River.
I was the recipient of the Jack Webster Student Journalism Award - as well as being a finalist for a BCAB Award in 2013 for my reporting on the 2013 Haida Gwaii earthquake.
Before BCIT, I obtained a bachelors' degree in Economics and Criminology.
My goal when I moved to the Okanagan in the Spring of 2013 was to taste every wine around the valley, and while a huge effort has already been made, it is still a work in progress.
Outside of work, I share a home with my partner Michael and our high energy rescue puppy Arya.
